“Put on God’s armor so that you can make a stand against the tricks of the devil. We aren’t fighting against human enemies but against rulers, authorities, forces of cosmic darkness, and spiritual powers of evil in the heavens.” (Ephesians 6:11-12, CEB)
Does life ever feel like a battle? There are times, aren’t there? Today’s passage tells us that the battles fought by the faithful generally occur in the realm of the unseen, and that can be tough for us. We tend to need the visible to better understand the invisible, especially when things get tough. God gets it, but He also wants your faith to be strong so you are confident in Him in the arenas seen and unseen; i.e., faith.
There is something else in today’s passage that I want to hone in on here. Note how it refers to the “tricks of the devil.” The devil isn’t all powerful, all knowing, all present. In fact, the only real power the devil has is deception…trickery. The devil wants you to think he is all powerful, all knowing, and everywhere, but he isn’t. He is in no way God’s equal. And those who are in Christ have God’s protection. That doesn’t mean the devil will quit trying to trick you, because he will. The good new is God stands ready to help.
Stand strong in God strength and protection. Suit up in His armor, and know He is true power!
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your loving protection. Please forgive me for the times when I allow the things unseen to distort the things that are seen. Help me suit up in your armor so I may live in your truth, justice, peace and through faith in you. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
