“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10, NLT)

Do you look at yourself and say, “Masterpiece”? You are! Today’s Bible verse proves it. You are an essential thread of the tapestry of love God is weaving to beautify creation. Without your thread, the tapestry is incomplete. Additionally, your thread helps connect other threads that complete God’s masterpiece. The colors, textures, and depth you can add, bringing in others with you, are essential to completing God’s work of art.

We read that those in Christ are created anew for the purpose of good works. An important point to make here has to do with the role of good works in God’s salvation tapestry. Many think that it is good works that weave you in, but that’s not the case. The good deeds are in response to salvation, not the cause of it. This harkens back to the Sermon on the Mount when Jesus said one’s good works are to point people to God. This is God’s plan since long ago.

If you are in Christ Jesus, God is weaving you into His eternal tapestry. Your works don’t cause your salvation, but they flow from it to complete God’s masterpiece, and help connect others within it, too. So let’s get out there today and weave some love so everyone can see the goodness of God.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for choosing to weave me into your masterpiece. Forgive me for the times when I think the good things I do cause my salvation as opposed to showing my love for you. Help me today to follow you and let my light shine so others can see how good you are. I ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.
