He told them, “You don’t get to know the time. Timing is the Father’s business. What you’ll get is the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world.” Acts 1:7-8 (MSG)
In reflecting on yesterday’s message of BE. KNOW. DO., I can’t help but affirm that it was divinely given, and no accident or coincidence. You see, yesterday was Pentecost. We heard from the scriptures of being in Christ, remembering who we are as disciples of Christ. We heard of knowing and renewing our vision for God. We heard of reclaiming and doing our mission. BE. KNOW. DO.
And as my mind was in reflection, it came upon me that in Being, Knowing, and Doing kingdom work for God, work that you cannot possibly do by yourself, we also need to know the HOW. Even the disciples sat in hiding after the death of Jesus, not knowing what to do. Then a mighty wind came and tongues of fire danced upon their heads. Jesus called this the paraclete, the advocate, the companion. We know him as Ruach….. the Holy Spirit of God.
Our scripture today shares with us the HOW. We can give thanks that as we BE. KNOW. DO., it is through the power of the Holy Spirit that gives us ability and empowers us to be agents of change, for the transformation and redemption of our families, our workplaces, our communities, and our world. So I invite you to be, as John Wesley so famously quoted….. be on fire with the Gospel, and people will come to watch you burn.
Peace and Blessings.
