by Pastor Mark Jordan

I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.” (John 5:24, NLT)

This week we are looking at the vision of Church at the Well. Yesterday we explored how God wants us to begin our life with Him, even if those first steps seems small if not insignificant. God rejoices in seeing you begin, so take that first step.

Today I want us to explore the importance of believing. There is a direct connection between believing in Jesus and salvation. Today’s verse tells us that belief is pivotal in moving from death to life. The key here is belief frees you from the condemnation of sin. You might think your past disqualifies you from salvation, but it doesn’t! Confessing your sin and faith in Christ saves you for eternal life. This reminds me of the famous Oscar Wilde quote, “Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.”

You have a future with Christ…you do! Believe in Him, and His message of salvation. It will change your life!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for loving me. I believe in you and your message of salvation. I know my past failing doesn’t disqualify me from eternal life with you, so help me live into that reality. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
