reclaiming vision

by Pastor Mark Jordan

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5, NLT)

This past Sunday we concluded our recent message series, “Reclaimed.” The heart of this series was to help us prepare for the Thanksgiving season, and propel us forward into the season of Advent as we prepare for Christmas.

The first installment of this series focused on Jesus’ teaching of the vine and the branches (you can read the entire passage by clicking here). Jesus focused on how we can prodúce próduce for Him for the sake of sharing God’s light and love. The points we covered were:

  1. Reclaim preparation: it is important to get ready for our time in the world by spending time with the Lord
  2. Reclaim connectivity: it is imperative to stay connected with Jesus while there are so many things trying to pull us away from Him
  3. Reclaim vision: it is essential to remember that vision comes from God as He helps us see where He wants us to go.

Thinking about reclaiming vision, I want to close with this idea. So often we yearn to reclaim that which is familiar and comfortable; that is not always God’s plan though. God is much more concerned with helping us reclaim our vision than reclaiming our past. This is because our futures with Him are far greater than anything we can imagine on our own. So as we start off this new week, I want you to think about reclaiming the vision God wants to give you for your life in Him. And as you do, know you need to reclaim your preparation, your connectivity, as well as your vision.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the vision you want to give me in life. Forgive me for the times I fixate too much on the past at the expense of the future. By your vision, help me accomplish things for you that surpass my wildest dreams. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
