Jesus the Pilot

today’s daily water is written by Doug Markle of Beloved Lord Ministries

1 Thessalonians 5:9-11: For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

Some years ago, I wanted to surprise my wife with a trip for our anniversary.  I told her what kind of clothes to pack and how long we would be gone, but that was it.  When we got to the airport, she learned of our destination because it was printed on our boarding pass.  Up until that point, she was nervous and anxious because she wasn’t sure where we were going.  Once she saw the boarding pass, she relaxed and got ready for a fun trip.

Of all the flights I have taken, not once have I ever worried that the pilot would make a mistake and fly to a different city than was printed on the ticket.  Not once have I gotten off the plane and thought, “Wait!  This is not where I was trying to go!”  How much more sure can we be when our heavenly Father has set the destination and Jesus is the Pilot

As Christians, we also know our destination.  We know where we are going without a shadow of doubt. We have our boarding pass.  We know that the Pilot will get us to the right place.  And we can be at complete peace that we will reach the destination.

Prayer: Wonderful God, thank you for your plan for my life.  I trust you completely with my destiny.
