Easing Your Day with Scripture

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Have you ever had a very horrible, terrible, bad day? A day when you woke up and didn’t feel your best but you had to get up anyway? A day where every single thing which made noise sounded like nails on a chalkboard? That last hour of work seems like twelve hours on that day, doesn’t it?
We all have them. I have found the best place to turn to on those days is God’s word. Here are a few verses I have found to be helpful and I hope they help you on those days that seem like the flying spaghetti monster has taken over your world.
When I am having one of those days, I think God likes to have a bit of fun making sure anyone I call or want to visit or whatever is unavailable. I think he allows this on purpose so the only one I will turn to is Him. He very quickly gets my attention to remember to dwell in Him. 
Whoever dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust. Psalm 91:1-2
For me when I dwell in Him, the stressors of the day lessen. I know all too often, I am prone to want things done yesterday and get grouchy when I get impatient with the things of the world, whether it’s traffic or the lady taking too long at the checkout line. This is especially so when I am in a hurry! When I breathe and stop and think about trusting God I remember that His time is not my time. His time is always the right time. 
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord, a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.  2 Peter 3:8
On these days, it is so easy to be flippant and believe God is not caring about me or the world is too exhausting to bear. It’s those times I realize I must lean into His grace and remember He is faithful to me even if I am being an emo child of God at the moment.
Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  Lamentations 3: 22-23 
Keep in the word and you will find enough grace and mercy and love to get you through those kinds of days. 
Next time you are having a tough day remember to stay prayed up and in the word of God. The answers you seek are in you because He lives in you. He is the living word and hope for us and for the world. 
Prayer: So many times I fail Lord to seek your face during the tough days. I rest in your grace and mercy to help me look to the Cross for relief. Thank you for loving me anyway. In Jesus name, Amen
