The Work of the Cross

LORD, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished you have done for us. —Isaiah 26:12

When Jesus said from the cross, “It is finished,” He paid the price for your sin once and for all (John 19:30). He gave His life, the ultimate sacrifice, so that you wouldn’t have to bear the punishment. Are you living in the freedom of that?

Too many Christians are still trying to earn God’s favor by living perfectly. But that’s impossible; and, thankfully, God doesn’t call you to be perfect. Instead, He calls you to trust Him completely and to believe in the finished work of the cross.

Can you allow yourself to rest in the work of the cross today? Can you let go of the urge to continually prove yourself and your faithfulness to God? Today, surrender your quest for perfection, and simply praise God for what He’s done for you. Let your life be marked by complete reliance on the work of the cross. Rest in the peace of your salvation.

Jesus, Lamb of God, thank You for paying the price for my sin. I rest in that peace.
