“Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18a, KJV).
Yesterday in worship we took a look at the vision, purpose, and mission of Church at the Well. This week we will look at the various components of those in our daily water devotions.
Today’s verse is an important one as it shows us that vision is important for life. We need a vision for living that comes directly from God. It keeps us focused on the things that are important to God, and makes those things important to us. This is essential in the church, but even more so when we consider the burden we should feel for those who are not in the church. God wants everyone to feel a burden for those who are not part of His family, so we may seek to introduce them to the love of God. Your belief and behavior must be congruent, though, which lends credence to other translations of today’s verse, which indicate that without a vision people throw off restraint. Throwing caution to the wind in all ways and all things damages your witness.
As we go through the week, we will look at our church’s vision and aim to help you see how it can inform and transform your life. As we go through this week’s daily waters, share what God is speaking to you, and how you can help fulfill God’s vision for His church.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for giving me a vision for my life. Help me to live into this vision with my entire life. I ask this in Jesus’ name.
